Pair Of Former Miners Ink NFL Free Agent Deals

Kevin Perry and James Davidson signed on to NFL Rookie Free Agent deals as the 2014 NFL Draft comes to a close.

Former Miners Kevin Perry and James Davidson were scooped up by NFL teams as Rookie Free Agents signees hours after the 2014 NFL Draft closed.

Perry appeared in 43 games for UTEP as a tight end and was signed by the Washington Redskins.  During his time as a Miner, Perry who hails from Opelousas, Louisiana, caught 29 passes for 344 yards, and also played two seasons with the basketball team.  Perry briefly tried his hand at tackle in camp during his senior year this past fall, but moved back to tight end to before the start of the season.

After starting every game last year at defensive end, James Davidson agreed to terms with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Huntsville, Texas native racked up 111 tackles, and 8.5 sacks from the 2010-13 seasons, leading the Miners in sacks last season, and set a career best with 53 tackles as well last season.
