Jonathan Stark scored 21 points and dished out seven assists in a comeback effort against North Texas. The Mean Green led early and often, but it was the Green Wave who would advance 66-61.
North Texas jumped out to a quick 15-4 lead just 6:30 into the ball game, on a run fueled by Colin Voss and Maurice Aniefiok. That would continue, and the Mean Green would hold Tulane to just nine point through the first 10 minutes of the game.
The Green Wave would heat up a bit, and would cut as big as a 13 point lead down to 8 with 6:21 left in the frame, but would still find themselves down double digits at 32-21 heading into the locker rooms.
UNT would maintain its double digit lead through the first ten minutes of the second half, but that's when the wheels came off. Tulane would then use a 21-8 run over a six minute span to turn a 12 point deficit into a one point lead.
The Mean Green would regain their lead just a minute later, but Tulane would take it back on a pair of free throws by Stark with just 2:17 to play, and they wouldn't give it up again. The Mean Green would have an opportunity to tie with :10 left, but a three Brandon Walton missed, and Tulane escaped 66-61.
