According to the Official Conference USA website Vince Hunter has been named C-USA Player of the Week for the second straight week, and for the fourth time this season.
Hunter notched his league best eighth double-double recording 18 points and career high 16 rebounds in UTEP's Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational championship win over Kent State last Monday.
At this point its safe to say Hunter is the leading candidate for C-USA MVP honors.
VH is leading the conference in rebounding and is ranked fourth in scoring average with 16.5 points per game. Hunter also leads the conference in total points scored with 198 points, just a tick higher than LA Tech's Raheem Appleby.
UTEP will open their conference slate Friday night in Denton against the Mean Green of North Texas at 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time. That game will be televised across the American Sports Network, though UTEP does have an exhibition game tomorrow night against Sul Ross State at 7:00 p.m. in the Don.
