The Bison turned an early 9-9 tie into a 30-15 lead thanks to a 21-6 run capped off by a Jake Showalter make from three with 4:02 left in the first half .
That run that would eventually balloon to a 21 point lead at the 1:23 mark of the first half as Lawrence Alexander driled a three that helped the Bison take a 36-18 lead into the halftime break.
Marquis Vance paced Alcorn State with 14 points, and 10 rebounds, but Alcorn State had no quit in their DNA shooting them out to a 12-3 run in the first five minutes of the second half.
Although the Braves had trouble finishing good looks from around the rim, and never got closer than seven in final fourteen minutes despite South Dakota State shooting just 31.8 percent from the field in the second half.
Kory Brown added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the Bison, and Carlin Dupree chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds as South Dakota moves on to 7-5 on the season.
The Bison finished plus-ten on the boards with a 45-35 nod, Paul Miler added 8 rebounds to the cause, but was 2/8 from the field still managing 8 points with a pair of three pointers.
The Braves end their straight tournament appearance with a pair of losses, and drop to 1-10 on the season.
