Vince Hunter matched a career high with 26 points to go along with 7 rebounds last Tuesday against Southeastern Lousisiana, followed by a monster effort of 18 and 12 against #3 Arizona, and another 16 point, 6 rebound effort Sunday night against Alcorn State.
In all, he averaged 20 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2 steals per contest. That was enough to warrant his third Conference USA Player of the Week award of the 2014-15 season. The three awards this season are also the total number in his young career, but he did also receive five conference freshman of the week awards a year ago.
On the year, Hunter is averaging 16.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals a game. The Miners will be back in action tonight as they take on Kent State in the championship game of the Westar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational. Tipoff for the game is slated for 7:00 p.m. MT.
