UTEP Women's Basketball: UTEP Routs Eastern New Mexico 84-49

Keitha Adams & Co. returned to the game action after almost a week long layoff to dump Eastern New Mexico 84-49.

Both Cameasha Turner and Sparkle Taylor posted double-doubles as UTEP pounded Eastern New Mexico 84-49 Tuesday night in the Don Haskins Center.

Taylor led all scorers with 25 points to go along with her 10 rebound night, Turner scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Miners who out rebounded the Zia's 57-29 on the evening.

The Miners would start slow showing evidence of a near week layoff with a 1/6 start from the field.

Eastern New Mexico would grab an early 4-0 lead, though UTEP would go on a 24-2 run capped by a highlight bucket, foul, and free throw by Lulu McKinney that saw UTEP jump out to a 24-6 lead at the 7:43 mark of the first half.

UTEP freshman Marta Misencko provided 12 points and 5 rebounds, and the birthday girl Lulu McKinney added 8 points and 3 assists.

Eastern New Mexico shot 25.9 percent in the first half, and turned it over 17 times leading to 19 points on the board for the Orange and Blue.

Shayla Williams led the Zia's with 16 points, though UTEP outscored ENMU 62-18 in the paint to finish the night at 46.6 percent from the field.

UTEP moves on to 3-2 on the season, and will host Houston Baptist Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. matinee start in the Don.

Injury update:

Chrishuanna Parker suffered a second concussion, but is expected to be cleared for protocol workouts any day in hopes for a return next week.

Agata Dobrowolska will miss significant time with a reported MCL injury, and Anete Kirsteine dressed but did not play tonight.
