UTEP Football: Jameill Showers, Eric Tomlinson Accept Invite to NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

The journey to a possible NFL career will start in Carson, California for Jameill Showers, and Eric Tomlinson.

UTEP seniors Jameill Showers and Eric Tomlinson accepted an invite to play in the NFLPA Collegiate bowl in Carson, California UTEP Athletics announced today.

The senior duo will be going up against the top draft eligible college players on  Saturday, January 17th at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA.  Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time and will be shown live on ESPN2.

Apart from the televised game are two televised practices that will be shown live on ESPNU on January 14th and 15th.

NFL coaching legends Mike Holmgren and Mike Martz will be the head coaches, with Holmgren coaching the American Team, and Martz heading the National Team.  Previous head coaches include Dennis Green, Dick Vermeil, Herm Edwards, and Raider great Tom Flores

No word on which team Tomlinson and Showers will play on.

In 2014, more than 140 NFL Scouts, Player Personnel Staff, GMs and Head Coaches attended the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl practices and game.  Multiple other professional football leagues had representatives on hand as well.

Tomlinson is projected as a 7th round pick, and has also been scouted to say he could possibly move to tackle in his pro career.   Showers ran for 288 yards and four touchdowns, he also threw for 1,732 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

The pair becomes the first Miners to appear in a post-season All-Star game since 2011 when Kris Adams played in the Texas vs The Nation All-Star game.
