UTEP Football: Wesley Miller Named C-USA Defensive Player of The Week

Now thats how you go out on top!

UTEP's senior safety and team captain Wesley Miller was named C-USA Defensive Player of The Week after the 24-21 win against Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

Miller piled up 11 tackles which tied a career high, and also marked the sixth time this season Miller has led UTEP in tackles.

The former walk-on was credited with an interception on the final play of the game, though after seeing the review Miller secured the ball after it hit the ground.  No official word yet if it will stand as today is the final day to change any stats from Saturday's game.

Miller has been the essential quarterback of the defense during the 2014 defensive turnaround for the Miners.  UTEP is ranked 45th in the nation in total defense, after living in the 100th range the past few seasons.

Greatly deserved honor for hardworking kid who has gave UTEP fans his all for the past five seasons and was an integral defensive part in the Miners clinching a winning record for the first time since 2005.
