There are many new faces this year within the C-USA landscape, UTEP will square off with another first time opponent this weekend in a place the Miner pick has never broke the turf: Bowling Green, Kentucky.
WKU comes in 3-5, and 1-4 in their first C-USA season, while UTEP is one win away from one of the best turnarounds in school, and possibly C-USA history, here are some notes about the Red Towel program.
***WKU is playing in their 96th football season and sixth as a FBS program, head coach Jeff Brohm is the 19th head coach in school history.
***Twice this season WKU has broke the it's single game school record for total offensive yards in a game, including 718 yards of chain moving against Middle Tennessee.
***WKU averages 600 yards of offense, and 54.7 points per home game this season.
***Quarterback Brandon Doughty has not thrown an interception in a home game since October 23rd, 2013.
***The 2014 team is the first team in school history to score 30 or more points in their first seven games.
***WKU is the only team in the country with three 80-plus yard defensive touchdowns this season.
***They are also one of twelve teams in the nation who average 80 more offensive plays per game.
***WKU has scored on their first possession of offense in 14 out of the last 19 games since the 2013 season.
***Doughty is 47/53 for 524 yards with 4 TD's on opening drives since he has been the starter at quarterback, he is also 50/82 for 630 yards, 6 TD's and no interceptions on third down conversions this season. 15 of those completions on third down have gone for over 15 yards, while 36 of those completions have resulted in first downs.
***Since 1951, WKU's leading receiver on the season has never eclipsed 400 yards receiving, in 2014 WKU has three receivers who have 400 yards receiving.
***The Hilltoppers have run at least 40 plays in the first half in seven of eight games this season.
***WKU has also held a lead in all but one game under the 20 games head coach Jeff Brohm has been on the sideline either as head or assistant coach. They have held a lead in 30 of their last 33 games overall.
***Defensive back Cam Thomas is one of 19 active FBS players with 10 or more career interceptions.
***WKU has had a running back reach the 1,500 yard mark in each of the last four seasons.
***In eight straight games this season WKU has had at least eight different players catch a ball in a game, their season high game total is 10 different players with a catch.
***They also have had a different leading receiver in five games this season, and the Tops are also one of three teams in the nation to have four players with 30 catches.
***While they are 123rd in the country when it come to yards allowed per game, WKU ranks in the top-25 in the nation when it comes to red zone defense.
***WKU has had a player go over 100 all purpose yards in 50 of their last 52 games.
***The Hilltoppers have a defensive back named Wonderful Terry.
***In their win against Bowling Green earlier this season, WKU ran 96 plays without a turnover, and Doughty was sacked just once in 56 drop backs.
***WKU has only allowed 14 sacks in 370 pass attempts this season.
***WKU also has 51 offensive plays that have gone for 20 yards or more this season, but only 23 of those have came in the second half.
***Tight end Mitchell Henry and wide receiver Taywan Taylor each have 8 receptions that have gone for more than 20 yards or more this season.
***Senior receiver Willie McNeal is WKU's active leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
***Right tackle Cameron Clemmons will make his 27th straight start this Saturday, and he also is the active career leader in starts for WKU with 39 career starts.
***Junior linebacker Nick Holt is the son of defensive coordinator Nick Holt.
