Aaron Jones tabbed as an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Semifinalist

UTEP's feature back has a shot to take home some prestigious hardware at seasons end.

UTEP sophomore running back Aaron Jones has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

Jones currently ranks 22nd in the FBS in rushing yards per game averaging 108.6 yards per outing.   He is also ranked 4th in the C-USA in the same category, and is the only C-USA player to be named as a semifinalist for the award.

The El Paso native eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing mark two games ago, and ran for a career high 237 yards and reached the end zone three times against New Mexico, he also ran for 177 yards in a win against North Texas two weeks ago.

Jones is one of six running backs up for the award that honors the best college football player with Texas ties.  Also included as semifinalists are four quarterbacks, and six wide receiver candidates that hail from seven different conferences.

Finalists will be announced December 10th, with the winner announced at the award banquet on January 14th.
