John Bohannon was selected as the seventh pick inside the second round of the NBA D-League draft Saturday by the Erie BayHawks an affiliate of the Orlando Magic.
Bo finished his Miner career ranked second in blocks and in field goal percentage, while maturing into a influential leader a year ago in where he averaged just under 12 points a game, and 8.3 boards a contest, and was the unquestioned emotional leader UTEP needed to win 23 games last season.
Finishing his stellar UTEP tenure with 1,204 points, 825 rebounds, and 163 blocks, Bohannon has the physical tools, and mental makeup in possibly cracking an NBA roster one day.
Bohannon worked out with his hometown Dallas Mavericks as a summer league invitee, and has worked out with several well known NBA players since the end of the last season and over the summer in hopes of a NBA shot.
Erie opens their season on November 14th against the Idaho Stampede with back-to-back games in Idaho on consecutive days.
We wish nothing but the best for Bo, and hope to see him in an NBA arena soon!
