Vince Hunter earned the first Conference USA Player of the Week honor of the season for his 14 point, 16 rebound jaw dropping showing in the season opening win against Washington State.

Hunter earns his first ever C-USA Player of The Week award, after notching C-USA Freshman of the Week honors five times last season.

The 16 boards are a career high for Hunter who also added two blocks, and two steals in what could be described as one of his best all-around games to date with 30 games or so left in the year.

UTEP opened the season with a through 65-52 win over Washington State marking win number nine against power conference foes during Tim Floyd's tenure at UTEP.

The Miners will face I-10 rival NMSU Saturday in the Haskins Center at 7:00 p.m.  NMSU will play at St. Mary's (CA) tonight or early this morning at 1 a.m. El Paso time on ESPN2, then host Northern Colorado on Wednesday before Saturday's huge I-10 battle.
