UTEP sophomore punter Mike Ruggles had been named a nominee for the Ray Guy Award which recognizes the nation's top punter.

Ruggles has punted 23 times for a 46.7 yard average, and has a season long of 64 yards against Texas Tech.

He is one of 80 candidates which will be trimmed down to ten names by November 14th.   After that a FBS committee made up of coaches, media, and SID's from around the nation will cast their vote for the three finalists.

The winner will be announced during the The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN during the December 11th show.

UTEP made a change at punter last week, interesting to see if UTEP goes with a punter rotation or if Jay Mattox has locked it down after his excellent performance against UTSA.
