Victor Mbachu Ruled Ineligible For Remainder Of Season

Another guard is gone for the streaking Miners, junior walk-on Victor Mbachu has been ruled academically ineligible for the rest of this season.

Another roster blow to the UTEP Men's basketball team leaves the Miners another guard down after junior Victor Mbachu was ruled academically ineligible for the rest of 2013-14 season.

Mbachu had been sidelined since the Miners road trip to Middle Tennessee and UAB, back on January 16th due to an academic issue.

He appeared in five games for the Miners this season, seeing 20 minutes of total action, and scoring 5 points. He can still practice with the team, but will not play in any further games this season.

After playing two years at Angelina College, Mbachu transferred to UTEP as walk-on, and assumed back up point guard duties after the dismissals of McKenzie Moore, Jalen Ragland, and Justin Crosgile.

Mbachu hails from Houston where was an all-district guard for three straight years in high school, scoring 23.9 points a game in his senior year.

Not much was heard of the kid before his arrival, he showed poise, and some possible promise in his limited minutes, though now his future with the Miners is in question.
