As was first reported yesterday by ESPN 600 AM, Isaac Hamilton has finally filed his appeal to the National Letter of Intent Steering Committee. UTEP will now have 10 business days, from Monday August 12th, to file their own written response to the appeal.
Hamilton, who reportedly wants to play close to home because of his ailing grandmother, is looking for an immediate release that would allow him to play at the school of his choice.
The Steering Committee has already responded, generally, saying that any appeal's process would likely take 6-8 weeks, but for cases this late they would try to expedite that. Classes at UTEP start here in only a matter of days, while others in Southern California such as UCLA don't start until late September.
At this point, it seems as though this appeal is the final nail in the coffin for fans' hopes of Isaac ever making it to El Paso. The late appeal almost certainly means that he will not be here for the start of the Fall semester, and likely will not be here any time after that either.
We'll continue to monitor the situation and bring you any updates as they become available.
