UTEP Releases Statement Concerning Tim Floyd

The University of Texas at El Paso has released a statement concerning the reports of head men's basketball coach Tim Floyd interviewing for the current opening at Southern California.

Coach Tim Floyd asked that all focus be placed on tonight's game with Memphis, and said that he would answer any questions about the situation following the game. Athletics Director Bob Stull had this to say:

"I was contacted six weeks ago by Pat Haden, who was interested in talking to Tim Floyd about the USC coaching job. The meeting took place. Coach Floyd has always indicated to me that he is happy working at UTEP, and until he tells me otherwise he is our coach."

According to the statements, it does seem as though Coach Floyd will not be leaving the Miners for USC, but then again, crazier things have happened. More should be known about the situation following tonight's post game presser. Stay tuned to Miner Rush for more information as this story develops.
