MinerRush: Talk about your commitment/signing with the Miners, what were your ultimate deciding factors in your decision to become a Miner?
Trey Touchet: UTEP is the best place for me, the best situation. I think I will be able to succeed on and off the court at UTEP.
MinerRush: Who else was after you in your recruiting trail?
Trey Touchet: UTEP was definitely a favorite of mine from the beginning, there was one other school that was eyeing me was North Texas, but UTEP had the clear advantage.
MinerRush: What spot do you feel more comfortable playing as a point guard or shooting guard?
Trey Touchet: Honestly I can play both, I'm not really a true point guard or shooting guard, I'm more of a combo guard I can play both. I'm comfortable playing both and I think my skill set allows me to play both.
MinerRush: Your thoughts on being named Louisiana Gatorade Player of the year?
Trey Touchet: It was an honor just to get elected to be a finalist, initially I was shocked because there are so many great players in the state, and for them to choose me it was very humbling.
MinerRush: After winning two state titles and a state Player of the Year award, how high do you set the bar heading into your senior year of high school?
Trey Touchet: After a dream season like last year, its hard to have the same kind of season or even better. So I'm just trying to forget about what happened last year just keep working hard. As far as my goals for this year, I want to win a state championship, I don't really have any individual goals because I think that if set my mind on the team goals the individuals stuff will just come by itself.
