UTEP Announces the Addition of Three to 2014 Recruiting Class

Saturday morning, UTEP officially announced the signing of three players to the 2014 men's basketball recruiting class.

While it's been known since earlier in the week, today UTEP officially announced the signing of 2014 guards Omega Harris and Trey Touchet, and guard/forward Chris Sandifer. All three bring plenty of accolades with them, but more than anything they provide depth to a unit in much need of it.

Harris, a 6'2 175 lb guard out of Bethany, OK, is widely regarded as one of the top players in the state. As a junior he averaged nearly 18 points a game, to go along with 4 assists, and 2 steals. Most recruiting outlets consider him a top 40 shooting guard, and a player that is right around the top 100 in the country. He also held offers from Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Wichita State among others.

Touchet, a 6'2 175 lb guard out of Lafayette, LA, was the 2013 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Louisiana, and is also considered a top 40-50 shooting guard in the 2014 class. He averaged nearly 24 points a game as a junior, and led his team to their second state title. He held offers from Louisiana Tech and Lafayette among others.

Sandifer, a 6'5 180 lb guard/foward from Los Angeles, CA, is considered by many recruiting outlets to be a top 100 player in the class of 2014. He will play his senior year at Taft High School in LA after spending his junior at Sierra who he led to the CIF 4AA title a year ago. He was offered by Colorado, San Diego State, and UNLV among others.

These three additions will certainly provide some depth to UTEP back court in the 2014, and in years to come. While the three are the only additions at this point, you can bet that CTF and his coaching staff are still hard at work, looking to bring in more talent for the coming year.

Tyree Griffin, a 5'9 160lb point guard out of New Orleans, who gave a verabl commitment to the Miners, has not signed at this point, and there is no other update on his status.
