A couple days ago, the UTEP basketball program announced that they would be adding 6'4 SG Konner Tucker to the roster for the 2012-13 season. Tucker has made multiple stops in his college career. Following an illustrious high school run, Tucker started his career at Lon Morris Junior College.
In his year at Lon Morris he averaged better than 16 points a game, and was named to the NJCAA Region XIV All Conference team. He was then recruited by the likes of Billy Gillispie while he was at Kentucky, and he actually committed to play for the Wildcats, but reconsidered once Gillispie was given the boot.
Tucker went on to play a year for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, but after receiving sparse playing time, he once again was on the move. With two years of eligibility remaining, he landed at Sam Houston Sate. And, after redshirting in 2010-11, Tucker led the Bearkats in scoring at 12 points a game. The guard has now received his undergraduate degree, and will now be pursuing a graduate degree at UTEP. Because of this, he will be eligible to play for the Miners immediately, and will provide some added experience to a team full of youth.
We'll bring you more information on Tucker as it becomes available, and you can check out the entire 2012-13 UTEP basketball team at the Orange and White scrimmage Saturday October 27th at the Don Haskins Center. Admission is free.
