Former Miner Churandy Martina (NED) finished 5th today in the 200M dash at the 2012 London Olympics, after posting a time of 20.00 seconds in the finals. Jamaica swept the medals in the 200M, finishing 1-2-3, with phenom Usain Bolt posting a time of 19.32 to take Gold.

The run was a great one for Martina, who posted his best 200M time of the Olympics in the finals, but it just wasn't quite enough, as he finished .16 behind Jamaica's Weir Warren who took the Bronze. Churandy will also be competing in the 4X100M Relay tomorrow and Saturday.

Also today, former UTEP soccer star Kelly Parker (CAN) and her team team took Bronze, after knocking off France 1-0. Blessing Okagare and Oludamola Osayomi, both of Nigeria, failed to qualify for the finals in the women's 4x100M Relay.

Endurance Abinuwa, also of Nigeria, will be taking part in the women's 4x400M Relay beginning tomorrow. Congratulations, and good luck to all former Miners who have, and/or are still competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
