Much had been made recently of the comments by UTEP coach Tim Floyd pertaining to the Miners possibly matching up against Gonzaga in the opening round of the Old Spice Classic. Today we have found out that is not the case. UTEP will open the Old Spice Classic against the Oklahoma Sooners Thursday November 22nd in Orlando on ESPN2.

The Sooners have been a struggling program over the last few years, and actually haven't won more than 15 games in any season since their 30 win season in 2008-09. Last year, they finished with a mark of 15-16, going 5-13 in Big 12 Conference play. Oklahoma finished the season with an RPI of 139.

The Miners will also play the winner/loser of Gonzaga vs. Clemson, on Friday the 23rd, depending on how they fare in that opening round match. The championship, third place, and fifth place games will take place on Sunday November 25th, and all games throughout the tournament will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.

Other First Round matchups in the Old Spice Classic will pit West Virginia vs. Marist, and Vanderbilt vs. Davidson. Favorites by most include Gonzaga, West Vriginia, and Davidson. Here is a look at the full Old Spice Classic bracket by ESPN.
