Camilla Carrera Named C-USA Female Athlete of the Year

Tack on another accolade to UTEP great Camilla Carrera's stellar career. Today, Conference USA announced the winners of the 2011-12 Athlete of the Year award, and Carrera was selected as the Female AOY. Houston QB Case Keenum was seleceted as the Male Athlete of the Year.

As we all know, Camilla was already tabbed as an NFCA First Team All-American, Easton All American, was the Conference USA softball Player of the Year, and was an NFCA first team All Midwest Region selection. She also led the nation in home runs with 32, and had a 1.199 slugging percentage in 2012.

Carrera becomes only the second player in C-USA history history to grab two Player of the Year honors twice, and is only the second UTEP athlete to garner the award (Blesing Okagbare - Track and Field, 2010) . Carrera is currently playing professional softball out in Italy. Congratulations to her on adding yet another great achievement to an already amazing career.
