The UTEP Miners football team didn't have a single player taken in the 2012 NFL draft, but it didn't take long for a group of them to get their chance as soon as the draft concluded. At this point it has been confirmed that CB Antwon Blake, RB Joe Banyard, WR Donovan Kemp, and LS Matt Camilli have all been offered undrafted free agent contracts.
Both Blake and Banyard were picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Camilli was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles, and Kemp got to stay in Texas, getting picked up by the Dallas Cowboys. Other Miners like Vernon Frazier, Travaun Nixon, and Bernard Obi are also hoping to receive offers, but nothing has been confirmed with them as of yet.
Congratulations to all of these Miners on the signing of these contracts. Best of luck in whatever the future holds. Keep checking back with MinerRush for more information on UTEP players signing NFL contracts, or follow on twitter.
