Reports: Patrick Higgins could be next OC/WR coach for Miners

Rumor has it that Patrick Higgins could be hired as the Offensive Coordinator and or possibly the Wide Receivers coach for the Miners.

Patrick Higgins is currently the Interim Head Coach for the Purdue Boilermakers. Higgins serves as the Wide Receivers coach for the Boilermakers. He has worked along side former UTEP head coach Gary Nord and has taken over his offensive coordinator duties while Nord is out with a back injury.

Higgins is no stranger to the city of El Paso. He was the quarterbacks and receivers coach from 1998-1999 and took over as the offensive coordinator from 2000-2003. Higgins coached former UTEP Offensive Line coach Brian Natkin. Higgins also was on the coaching staff that went to the 2000 Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl. After his stint with UTEP, Higgins went on to coach BYU from 2005-2010 as the Receivers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator.

Purdue will play Oklahoma State in the Heart of Dallas bowl on January 1st.

Again no official confirmation has come form UTEP officials, but we do expect an announcement to come very soon. Stay tuned to Miner Rush for more news on this developing story.
