BREAKING NEWS: The UTEP Miners will face the Aggies of Texas A&M next season to close out their non conference schedule. The Miners will have only 5 home games next season since the match up with A&M takes place in college station.
UTEP AD Bob Stull did promise that the replacement for the rumored Miami game would prove to be bigger than we thought and he indeed was right. No details on how the contract will work but once we find out we will pass on the news to you.
Texas A&M is coming off a 10-2 season going 6-2 in SEC play. This will be the second SEC team that the Miners face in the past two seasons, the first being Ole Mississippi. Texas A&M is currently ranked 9th in the nation and will take on the 11th ranked Sooners of Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.
Also they have this quaterback by the name of Johnny Manziel. If you have not heard the talk about this guy, well let me tell you. This freshman has broken all the SEC passing records as well as some A&M ones, not to mention he is in the Heisman race right now.
So the UTEP Schedule will look something like this: 5 Home Games, 7 Away Games
Home Games: vs. UNM, CUSA TBA x 4
Road Games: vs. NMSU, TX A&M, CSU, CUSA TBA x 3
While it looks like an awfully weird schedule we must remember with the uncertainty that is CUSA right now and the possibility of moving conferences... anything is possible.
