ESPN's Andy Katz is reporting that the preseason Battle For Atlantis tournament is working on putting together "another high-profile field" for the 2013-14 season. The tournament takes place over Thanksgiving weekend on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas, and is one of the most prestigious preseason tournaments in college basketball.
So far Kansas, Tennessee, USC, UTEP, Villanova, Wake Forest, and Xavier have committed to the field, while the 8th participant is still up in the air. Katz had stated that Illinois was in the mix for that spot, but things did not work with getting the Illini into the tourney. Because of that, now Michigan State and Ohio State could possibly fill the void.
This year's field is a loaded one that includes Duke, Louisville, Memphis, Minnesota, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Stanford, and VCU. Pairings for the 2013-14 field won't be announced likely until late next summer, but make sure to follow MinerRush for any updates on the tournament.
