Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

A tallying 157 return yards, including one return for a 96 yard touchdown, UTEP true freshman running back Autrey Golden was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week. On the night against East Carolina, Golden averaged 31.7 yards per return on five kicks.

The 96 yard return for Golden was the seventh longest return in school history, and the 157 return yards are the most in a single game by a UTEP player since Vernon Frazier tallied 177 yards against Houston a year ago. The freshman leads the Miners in kickoff returns with 9, kickoff return yards with 269, and yards per return with an average of 29.9.

The honor is the first of any kind for Golden, and is the third player of the week award that the Miners have had this season. Both sophomore running back Nathan Jeffery, and senior quarterback Nick Lamaison received offensive player of the week awards earlier in the season.

Congratulations to Autrey Golden on the award.
