Report: Texas A&M Has Hired Houston's Kevin Sumlin

ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting that the Texas A&M Aggies have reached a deal with now former Houston Cougars head Coach Kevin Sumlin. Sumlin will replace Mike Sherman who was fired after a disappointing 2011 season in College Station. Sumlin had served as an assistant for UTEP's Mike Price at Washington State. He was also an assistant at A&M in the 2001-2002 season. The report doesn't say who will coach the Cougars in their January 2nd game against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Ticket City Bowl.

Sumlin was A&M's top choice, a source previously told Schad, with Louisville's Charlie Strong, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and Southern Mississippi's Larry Fedora also under consideration.

Even with Houston leaving to the Big East, this is a story that will impact the C-USA. Who will the Cougars look to as a replacement? Are any UH recruits now looking elsewhere? We will of course continue to update this story as more information is released.....
