Thoughts For The Week Ahead

Its a gloomy day here in Minerville, USA. Most of us are still trying to piece our Miner lives back together after Saturday's 69-68 heartbreaker at the hands of Tulsa. The loss left us asking questions like why we didn't have Stone on Hurtt for that last shot, why didn't we take time before inbounding the ball with over six seconds to play, and why didn't Julyan just go up strong with it? There aren't really any answers to those questions, but we have to just chalk it up as an L and move on.

Conference play won't be getting any easier. Wednesday brings 14-6, formerly 14-0 and no. 18 in the nation, UCF into the Don Haskins Center. Sure the team has lost six straight, but that only makes them hungrier for that W. Saturday we get a trip to Houston to take on a struggling, but very talented Rice team. The Owls had won two straight before dropping a 75-68 decision to SMU on Saturday. Rest assured they will be ready to play.

We need to be ready to play also. We are 17-5 on the season, and still have plenty of basketball left to be played. This is not the time for another setback. Its time to get back to the gym, and get back to work. Its a time to learn from our mistakes, and come back stronger than ever. Its a time to show Conference USA what Miner ball is all about.
