A National Award is always a big deal on Glory Road. Not only is Townsend an incredible pitcher, but she is also UTEP's alll time home-runs leader with 26. Excerpt: "Offensively, Townsend went 7-for-13 over six games with a .538 batting average, 13 RBIs, nine runs, four home runs, two doubles and one stolen base. The Orlando, Fla., native homered twice during a 22-5 rout of New Mexico St., including her first career grand slam... Her 16 strikeouts against Central Arkansas set a new single-game mark for the Miners."
