Paul Myerberg of Pre Snap Read has a nice New Mexico Bowl preview up. Paul names Kris Adams and Trevan Nixon UTEP's team MVP's. Nice pregame read.
Admittedly late to the party on this one, but it was a very long week.... UTEP has received a commitment from Clint Simon- per MI, who has been owning Rivals & Co. thus far in the recruiting calendar.
More on this next week, but great news that UTEP has snagged Jackson. He's teammates with Wardell Crutchfield III who has also committed to UTEP.
Great news, no real surprise here, but good to have this official.
Betancourt reportedly had a stellar showing at UTEP's camp discussed the NMSU offer with Scout.com ($). In other recruiting news, UTEP missed out on Jared Brackens, a 6'2, 205 lb strong safety from North Mesquite. UTEP and Minnesota both offered Brackens a scholarship but he decided to go to Iowa State.
Texas Football Magazine has named Donald Buckram the top running back in the state of Texas for the 2010 season.
UTEP's rated #93 in this blog. AM Note: Bump'd- Thanks, Alan, for posting - Paul Myerberg is a contributor for the New York Times Quad Blog - He has a heck of a Miner preview here.
Check out this UTEP preview from College Football Zealots. Kevin, from CFZ has done a heck of a job compiling previews of teams across the nation. I did a quickie interview as part of his review.
With Trevor Vittatoe a senior and non-scholarship player Carson Meger looking like the likely #2 quarterback for the Miners, it's essential that Mike Price add another quarterback to the 2011 class. We do have Javia Hall coming in August to provide some breathing room. Excerpt: "Keeton had 24 total touchdowns and had nearly 2400 yards of offense. This summer, Keeton looks to make stops by TCU, Rice, Air Force, UTEP and Tulane for camps."
