The Tulsa World is reporting that UTEP is the first FBS school to offer Tulsa (OK) Victory Christian offensive tackle prospect Trint Jenkins. Jenkins is a 6'9, 317 pound prospect who is starting to receive heightened interest from FBS programs as signing day approaches. Here is a link to Jenkins Rivals Page.
"He would also like to visit UTEP and Louisiana Tech if possible. We're looking to get the logistics worked out, and we like to get this done fairly soon. .." Stoudt originally signed with the Louisville Cardinals and redshirted in 2008. He is a 6'5 pro style quarterback who is also garnering interest from the Kansas Jayhawks, Ole Miss, Wyoming and Louisiana Tech. Kansas is in the lead now, but Stoudt has said that playing time and coaching staffs will be the determining factor. Obviously, UTEP's quarterback race will be wide open entering next season and the coaches are now aggressively seeking a JC quarterback to boost the Miners depth at the position.
I'm admittedly late to the party on this one. Lindblade's commitment was first reported by MI (is Rivals taking the year off, or what?) and it has now been confirmed by ESPN's Scouts Inc. The MI writer notes that Lindblade is new to football and looks like a multi-year project before he's ready to contribute. MI also reports that Gage Sharp a safety from the Colony and Roy Robertson, a defensive end have committed. Those signings have not been confirmed by ESPN or Rivals.com yet.
More on this tomorrow, but more good news along the recruiting front. Here's a link to his Rivals page.
More on this next week, but great news that UTEP has snagged Jackson. He's teammates with Wardell Crutchfield III who has also committed to UTEP.
California quarterback prospect Chad Jeffries decided to choose San Diego State over UTEP, Oregon State, and Utah. The wait for the first high school recruit to commit with UTEP continues....
Gilbert told SuperPrep "I just got my fifth offer, its from UTEP." Scout also reports that Gilbert has also been offered by Idaho, NAU, Northern Colorado and San Diego. MaxPreps lists Gilbert as 6'3, 238 and says he also plays offensive tackle for Fairfax High.
