AP Writer Alicia Caldwell has another excellent article on UTEP athletics out. Mike Price is sounding very reflective going into 2010. Will this be CMP's last hurrah?
Mike Price will discuss the arrest before practice today, so expect an update on this tonight. For now, details have emerged concerning the events that led to the arrest. EXCERPT: According to College Football Talk: The senior was charged with assault causing body injury/family violence, interference with emergency call, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. According to an El Paso Police Department spokesman, the 22-year-old Davis got into a verbal altercation with the woman in an apartment in the 300 block of Shadow Mountain that resulted in him allegedly grabbing her by the wrist. According to police, Davis let the woman go and she grabbed her phone. He then allegedly "tackled her and grabbed the phone and threw the phone."
Every Wednesday, starting tonight, Mike Price will do his weekly radio show on 92.3 the "Fox." The show airs from 7-8 pm MST and luckily, KOFX does provide for online streaming.
Lots of good questions asked here- admittedly- I got like 8 questions in under various random names- and I saw some of you all in there too...
Our old friend Steve Irvine of the Birmingham News has a nice Sunday feature on Mike Price. He was kind enough to ask the Rush for some thoughts on Price- primarily if we as Miner fans think Mike Price is on the hot seat. Irvine has some nice quotes from Price, including this one; "I want to retire on a winning note." Will this be Price's last year at UTEP or in college football as a whole? More on that this week as full posting resumes.
Gilbert told SuperPrep "I just got my fifth offer, its from UTEP." Scout also reports that Gilbert has also been offered by Idaho, NAU, Northern Colorado and San Diego. MaxPreps lists Gilbert as 6'3, 238 and says he also plays offensive tackle for Fairfax High.
IThe Orlando Sentinel's Illiana Limon has been ranking the nations college football teams. UTEP checks in at #85. Limon has some nice quotes from UTEP head coach Mike Price. Excerpt: "Price said an injury was the biggest turning point of Buckram’s career. Buckram lost weight and muscle mass during track season, but an injury forced him to skip track competition during his sophomore year. As a result, a beefier and brawnier Buckram rushed for 1,594 yards and 18 touchdowns on 259 carries as a junior last season. "He was so tough and could really break tackles like you wouldn’t believe," Price said. "We think he’s going to have a really special senior year."
I have no idea how I missed this a few weeks ago. Who knew Mike Price was responsible for the Iceland volcano?
Thank you Adrian for the interview! AM Note: SBNation's BCS Evolution is doing a preseason ranking of the nation's FBS football teams. UTEP checked in at #104. I chipped in my $0.02 to the article if you want to check it out.
