Zahira Torres: A Good Look on Tim Floyd's Salary


The EPT has finally made their Sunday feature on Tim Floyd's compensation package available online. As expected, the pay structure is heavily incentive based. For C-USA, the total compensation is very competitive. EXCERPT: But UTEP administrators said Floyd could earn between $150,000 and $200,000 more per year than his predecessor, Tony Barbee. Barbee received a base salary of $233,602 for 2008-09, but after incentives he made more than $400,000, according to university documents.

Bill Knight: Dickey the Front-Runner but Talks Still "Ongoing" With Tim Floyd


The El Paso Times' Biill Knight has a nice round-up of where the UTEP mens basketball coaching search stands as of this morning. With all the movement in the last 24 hours, I wouldn't be surprised if we have an official announcement very soon. Excerpt: "Most thought Floyd to be the top choice, but recently his name has drifted out of the picture. He interviewed with UTEP athletic director Bob Stull last weekend in New Orleans. Floyd also interviewed with the University of Houston last weekend. Sources close to the search say "it's not dead yet" and that it is safe to assume talks are still ongoing with Floyd."

UTEP Trach Coack Bob Kitchens to Retire


Bob Kitchens has made UTEP a consistent national power in track and field over the course of his remarkable 22 years as a Miner. At 65, Kitchen's has decided to retire. It's a sad day in Minerland, because we are losing a giant Here's wishing Kitchens a happy retirement. Excerpt from Bill Knight's excellent article on Kitchens: "The man has pieced together a stunning résumé -- 133 outdoor All-Americans, 73 indoor All-Americans, 14 cross country All-Americans, six top-five finishes in the nation, 15 conference championships, 21 NCAA champions, 28 Olympians and a lifetime of gifts and memories."
