Fear the Deer: Derrick Caracter to Workout for the Milwaukee Bucks

Former UTEP standout Derrick Caracter will workout for the Milwaukee Bucks next week. Best of luck to DC. UTEP Needs some Miners to get on some NBA rosters for recruiting purposes.

Ridiculous Upside: 2010 NBA Mock Draft

It's obviously very early for a mock draft, but I was surprised to see Arnett Moultrie projected as a mid second round pick. DC, sadly, didn't make the cut on this very, early look at where the prospects might shake out. Hassan Whiteside, of Marshall, is on the edge of the lottery. I think he's going to be a lot better than some of the guys in the top 10.

FoxSports' Jeff Goodman: Arnett Moultrie Declaring for NBA Draft

I don't buy this. Arnett is coming off a season where he didn't put up great numbers. I can't imagine his NBA stock is very high right now. With Tim Floyd coming in, and Derrick Caracter leaving, the stage is set for Arnett to have a monster senior season. I wouldn't be surprised if he went through workouts but didn't hire an agent to get a sense of where he might land. But an all-out declaration? I'm not buying it. Excerpt: "The Miners return most of their team but may lose Derrick Caracter and Arnett Moultrie early to the NBA Draft, according to sources."

ESPN's Andy Katz: UTEP Officials Expect Caracter to Declare for NBA Draft

The article actually focuses on UCF, Houston's, and UTEP's possible pursuit of Billy Gillispie and Tim Floyd, but along the way, Katz drops in this nugget: "The UTEP job might be more of a rebuilding situation if Derrick Caracter leaves, as expected, for the NBA draft. Caracter wasn't on the team charter back from San Jose last week after losing to Butler. UTEP officials are expecting him to declare for the draft and possibly not return to school to finish the semester."

New York Times: Derrick Caracter Has Turned it Around

The New York Times Pete Thamel has a solid article chronicling Derrick Caracter's progress as a Miner after well documented setbacks plagued his early college career.
