The Miners started out the season with a good fight against Oklahoma, but the offense failed to capitalize on several chances and didn’t wake up the week later against Ole Miss. Everything clicked against New Mexico State, and now there’s a chance to come up with a splashy win over a wounded giant. Wisconsin is ripe for the picking.

Former Utep basketball recruit Michael Haynes was shot and killed near his Chicago home. He signed to play for Iona and was set to start school in August. Haynes was 22.

One of UTEP's most highly-touted recruits, Garrett Simpson of The Colony, said one of the reasons he felt comfortable with UTEP was because he liked Mike and Aaron Price. When asked of Price's status entering the final year of his contract concerned him, Simpson said, "Price told me he'll be around until I graduate." Like a number of other commitments, he came to El Paso on his visit to watch UTEP beat Colorado State.

"East Carolina quarterback Dominique Davis has set two NCAA records for successive pass completions. Davis completed his first 26 passes against Navy on Saturday, breaking the single-game record of 23 set by Tee Martin of Tennessee in 1998 and tied by Aaron Rodgers of California in 2004."
