Good write up on our future PG

Portrait of a point shaver

THE SQUAD OF FBI agents rolled up to the Houston town house in full arrest mode. They broke into pairs, fanning out to cover three doors and several windows that looked like escape routes. With everyone in place, the lead agent took a deep breath, gripped his service Glock and whispered into a tiny transmitter: "Execute."

2014 Spring Practice Dates

Phil Steele provides some Spring Practice and Game dates for most schools. According to Steele UTEP's spring ball starts March 3rd, with Spring Game on Friday April 11th. Nothing official has been sent out by UTEP but this looks pretty legit, but its not official. Will keep yall posted once we hear official word.

UTEP loses another PG: Crosgile out

The 2013 Miners backcourt has taken another hit before the seal on the new court has had a chance to dry. Justin Crosgile is no longer a Miner due to "team reasons" according to the EP TImes. Buried in this story (typical of the Times) is the fact that McKenzie Moore is recovering from a July wrist surgery. Hopefully the bad news will deplete itself before basketball season starts. This is getting ridiculous.

CTF lands late 2013 recruit - 5'11" PG from Eastern Washington

According to Justin Crosgile's twitter account, he will be joining the team for the 2013-14 season and has 1 year of eligibility. I'm hoping he can fill in Streeter's role as a reliable facilitator.

Chris Washburn not returning to UTEP

I just read this article in the El Paso Times and I am in disbelief. I taught Chris and Julian were happy together. If any one has any more info please comment.

Rotich takes NCAA steeplechase

UTEP's Anthony Rotich won the steeplechase in Oregon at the NCAA track and field championship meet. Congrats to him! And he's only a sophomore.

Et tu, Coach Floyd?

Coach Floyd met with USC for 3 hours about their head coach opening. The article doesn't specifically state CTF was interviewing for the position, so it's possible this was not an interview for CTF. Regardless, this is bad news for UTEP basketball. It tells the rest of the NCAA that CTF is open to leaving UTEP. It's time to clarify coach!

Coach K Recruiting Splash; Lands QB Showers from A&M

Former Texas A&M QB Jameill Showers will be wearing UTEP's orange and blue for the next 2 years. Jameill was the backup for Ryan Tannenhill until Johnny Manziel stepped up and took the starting role. Jamiell is reportedly 6'2"/220 with a 4.6/40 and cannon arm. Big win for Coach K. It looks like UTEP has answered their starting QB question. Credit the good work from Miner Illustrated in breaking this story.
