As UTEP prepares to enter arguably its most challenging football season in my memory (and I'm pushing 90 ;)), Mike Price has been at the helm for two of the more "successful" seasons also within probably everyone's recent memory. However, success is a relative term. Although the win-loss column shows an improvement over pre-Price years, the team's inability in the last few years to break through to a winning season to at least qualify for a bowl, let alone win the conference, is problematic to say the least. In fact, the most you can say about Price's teams is that they have not lost as much or as badly as some of the teams I have unfortunately witnessed. In my view it's time for Price to bow out gracefully no matter the final result. He has had several years to improve and his methods are not working. We can argue recruiting versus offensive or defensive philosophies. However, this begins his 9th year which is unprecedented in modern D-1 programs given his record. This is an unscientific poll. The questions have not been reviewed by skilled pollsters for social bias. They simply reflect my own reasoning.
