Here's a quick update on what's going on in the late signing period for UTEP basketball. Granted, much of this is opinion, rumors, and hearsay from Twitter, but these days that's as good as gold.
Class of 2012:
There really isn't a ton of news from the 2012 recruiting class. The depature of G Michael Perez means that UTEP is now +1 in scholarships, and can use that on someone in the 2012 class if they so desire. As far as I know, some of the names still in play include Anthony January (6'7 SF-CA), BillyDee Williams (6'5 SF-FL), Phillip Jones (6-6 PF-MS), and Jordan Walker (6-4 SG-TX). Walker is actually a JUCO FR right now, and would have three years of eligibility left.
Class of 2013:
Wilfredo Rodriguez - 6'6 SG/SF Orlando, FL
Rodriguez isn't currently considered a high major prospect, but his stock is quickly rising. UTEP offered on the 17th in hopes of signing this kid before anyone else notices his talents. Via his Twitter: "Just got offered by UTEP. Might have to do it like Filiberto Rivera, Eddie Rivera, and Sharif Fajardo #minernation"
Allen Baez - 6'3 PG Miami, FL
Still not a ton of information on Baez, but his stock is rising as well. Both Baez and Rodriguez play AAU ball for D12Warriors, and CTF and company seem to have their eye on that squad.
Class of 2014:
Daniel Hamilton - 6'7 SF Los Angeles, CA
Hamilton is currently considered the #13 SF in the 2014 class, and has already been offered by SDSU, USC, Colorado St., and UTEP.
