Minimal Progress Made Toward New BCS System

Months ago, talks were raised about tweaking the current BCS system and potentially bringing in a 4 team playoff. While officials say that a four team playoff is certainly a possibility, the process is moving slowly and it could be a while before any decisions are made. At a meeting yesterday, the leaders of the BCS and the top football conferences discussed potential options for change in the current system, and the logistics that come along with making such a move. Some of the specifics in question would be where playoff games would be held, how to select the four teams (current rankings, new rankings, or selection committee), and how would scheduling work out. The meeting yesterday was the third this year for the group, and another is coming next month when the Football Bowl Association holds its annual meetings. While I wouldn't expect a definitive word anytime soon, I would think that we should at least start hearing about the direction this new format will be headed in.
