McCulley returns home and gives his family and friends quite a show

And earns a very fine Senior early present.

Let’s see more play like this down the stretch, Miners!

We've now beat memphis 3 out of the last 4

and twice in a row in Memphis. And, we should’ve won the C-USA championship, so basically what I’m saying is. WE OWN MEMPHIS!

Yeah this is a HUGE win for these guys

Hopefully this is the spark that these young guys needed. They need to realize that they can play with ANYONE out there. They just need to believe that everytime they step on the court. Hopefully this one gives them that confidence.

From Dan Wetzel..Heh

UTEP 60, Memphis 58. Big East should’ve invited the Miners

by TooLegitToQuit on Feb 18, 2012 1:18 PM MST reply actions

haha

honestly the Big East can have them. I mean, obviously I’d have liked them to stay in C-USA, but let’s be honest, they are absolutely terrible in football, and their basketball program just hasn’t been the same since CAL left.

Also, Julian Washburn with another amazing defensive performance.

Once his offensive game becomes consistent, you have to think he’s going to run away with Player of The Year awards down the road.

Guys

17 minutes left in the ball game, Marshall on top of SMU 34-17. I have no idea what is going on over there. But, considering the way they’ve been playing, if we don’t get the win at SMU, that will be disappointing.

Seriously! SMU has hit a serious offensive roadblock, their only saving grace is defense.

They are on pace for less than 40 again. Those are the teams that scare me though, we should not struggle with a team like that.

by jakeprobst on Feb 18, 2012 2:12 PM MST up reply actions

man how could i missed this???

I thought the game was tonight. I guess i’ll take it. Great job. I’m wondering if Memphis will ever play us after they leave our conference or would they just take the ball and go home…I’m guessing the latter…

by MinerManiax on Feb 18, 2012 2:22 PM MST via mobile reply actions

yeah I wouldn't count on it

But personally I would love to have a game against them every year. It would help our rpi and SOS, and it would just be a solid no conference opponent

and also

don’t feel too bad about missing the game. It’s happened to me before with those early starts. I didn’t realize it was at 11 till last night.

honestly guys

We could so easily be right in the thick of things for the conference race. We should’ve beat Houston, very easily could’ve beat rice and UAB, and just with those we’re 9-3. I guess that’s just what you have to deal with when you’ve got such a young team. Hopefully next year those close losses turn into close wins.

i thought the same thing but it goes both ways, we couldve easily lost to SMU, Tulane and this one...

it’s all up and down right now, but ur right, the experience overall will help these guys get better in the future

USM game is pretty big now as far as conference seeding, I think we can work our way

into the 6th seed if we can split the next 2 and sweep Rice and SMU…I think we can do some real damage as a 6-seed in the tourney, either way, great great win for this young squad.

by DFWMiner on Feb 18, 2012 2:55 PM MST reply actions

I think it caught up to us a long time ago

and we’ve dealt with almost every single game. Today was the perfect example. Bo fouled out with 4 or 5 minutes to go, Ced had 4, McCulley had 3. I mean, a couple more bad calls, and we would’ve been without all 3 of our bigs.

But, I think that our team has dealt with it well. These guys realize the situation that they are in, and they just have to prepare that much harder, and play that much smarter, if they want to continue to win games. The good thing is, by next season, we’re gonna have more guys than we know what to do with. Depth will certainly not be an issue.

I think the bracketbuster is a great idea

but it should include a lot more bubble teams. There a lot of bubble teams from power conferences that get a free pass, while teams like a 26-1 Murray St. have to prove themselves.
