TIm Floyd's first commit for the class of 2013 was JUCO guard Jacob Thomas from Howard College. As a freshaman for Howard Thomas averaged 15 ppg. Thomas was a highly talented kid coming out of HS, he was rated a 93 overall by ESPN and was the top player in the state of Minnesota. Check out his cover on ESPN RISE

Q: During your recruiting process, which schools showed the most interest?

A: I had a lot of schools after the top 100 camp this summer but UTEP showed me the most love and made it known that they wanted me to come in and make an immediate impact.

Q: What ultimately helped you make your decision to put on a UTEP uni?

A: The coaching staff is one of the best in the country and they know what it takes to make it to the league. They will help me reach my full potential.

Q: What stood out the most on your visit?

A: I liked the area and the campus was really nice.

Q: While on your visit you had a chance to see the team play some open gym, what are your thoughts on the team?

A: The team is really good. There is a lot of talent and potential. They are going to win some games this year.

Q: Did you visit any other schools?

A: No, I didn't visit any other schools. UTEP was the only school I was going to visit before the season started.

Q: According to everything I have read your shooting ability is your strength, would you agree?

A: Yeah, my strength is that I can score and a good passer. I need to work on getting stronger, though.

Q: WIll you be eligible at the start of next year? How is your team looking?

A: Yes, and we are looking pretty good we are #3 in the rankings right now.

Q: Anything you want to say to UTEP fans?

A: Yes, to ALL fans out there..UTEP basketball is coming back!
