It kind of seemed like a pipe dream that he would ever be on campus due to his grades..
But it’s pretty disappointing to miss out on a player like this.

It has nothing to do with grades
It did before, and that’s why he initially committed to UTEP. But, since he’s straightened out his grades, its been pretty obvious he’s been holding on to UTEP while waiting for some bigger offers. Also, I think the fact that we already have Julian Washburn, and Twymond Howard has signed, there’s just A LOT of talent for one position. If I’m January I’d probably rather go to a place where I don’t have to compete for minutes with two other guys as talented as I am. Oh well, it is what it is.
I never really thought his heart was with UTEP or else he would have signed like
Ty and Washburn did. Unfortunately UNLV and UNM are in the mix for him now….imagine this whole merger goes down and we get to see him at the DHC against us. I guess we’ll figure out who the better recruit was..Oh well, we’ll move on and be fine without him…
Another quick note, I saw on a Texas State board that Appalachian State coaches were telling recruits they would be going into CUSA within the next 2 years. Thoughts on this? Seems out of left field, but for some reason I feel more comfortable with this than La Tech getting an invite. Not sure why, but App State seems more appealing to me.
Anthony January Decommits
I agree w DFWMiner, his heart was not in utep, we were just a back up plan. I don’t think any of our players or fans who heard of his recent comments would truly accept him seeing that we would always be second to any other school w a higher prestige. On a good note, I checked ESPN’s recruiting page and Anthony January’s rating has dropped from a 91 grade to an 89. Also Twymond Howard’s grade has risen from a 89 to a 90! According to all major recruiting sites Howard is a better overall talent than January and he doesn’t come with any baggage as far as outside trouble or grades.
Howard is definitely gonna be a big time player
And so is Julian Washburn. It would’ve been nice to have a 3rd guy at the 3, but we’ll be just fine without him.
Definitely.
If Ragland develops the way we hope he develops, then we can probably pencil him in at the 3.
Streeter/Cooper/Campbell
Perez/Howard
Washburn/Ragland/Howard
Lang/Washburn Jr.
Bohannon/Vint
That’s a tournament team, in my opinion.

I'm thinking more along the lines of
Lang/Moore at the four
and Bohannon/Washburn Jr at the five. I really feel like Vint will take a backseat to the rest of those guys, unless he puts on a ton of muscle, and greatly improves in the offseason.
Also, don’t forget about Dustin Watts, and potentially Dwayne Benjamin and Mekale McKay, if they make it here.
