Throwing Strikes: Colony Quarterback Garrett Simpson Commits to the UTEP Miners

Back in February, we noted that UTEP had offered the Colony High QB Garrett Simpson.  Dave Campbells Texas Football now confirmes that the gunslinger has pledged to the UTEP Miners football team.

Simpson is a 6'4", 220 lb prospect.  Scout.com lists him as a 2 star prospect and reports that Simpson was offered a scholarship from the Big 12's Kansas Jayhawks.  Rivals.com doesn't have a profile or bio up for Garrett yet.  Watch the highlights embedded above and you'll see a big kid with a strong arm.  According to this limited video, I notice he looks like he makes quick reads.  He rarely hesitates with where the ball is going once he is into his shortened drop.  The Colony runs a spread style offense and these clips show him working exclusively from the shotgun. So, he might need some time to get situated with the 1-Back where he will be under center a bit more often.
