Bret Bloomquist: UTEP QB Nick Lamaison Out 2-3 Weeks with Shoulder Injury

Stay connected for news and updates

Bret Bloomquist is reporting that UTEP quarterback Nick Lamaison will miss 2-3 weeks to recover from a shoulder injury he suffered in last nights loss to SMU.  Lamaison told reporters after the game, video below, that he will have an MRI on Monday.   He completed 15/26 attempts for 142 yards before leaving the game. So, it seems safe to say that Lamaison is out against New Mexico State this week and will be doubtful for UTEP's September 24 visit to the #22 ranked South Florida Bulls.  Hopefully, Lamaison can be back in time for UTEP's Thursday night game against Houston on September 29.

Backup QB, redshirt freshman Jay Hall, saw his first significant action last night.  Hall is a good athlete and he showed signs of potential passing the ball.  But, he's raw and will be prone to make mistakes.   Obviously, more on Jay Hall and Carson Meger throughout the week as the team practices with one or borh of them under center.
