Bargain Shopping: Tulsa Suspends Stud Damaris Johnson
Shocking news out of Tulsa as Eric Bailey of the Tulsa World reports that TU"s All-American return man, and biggest offensive weapon, Damaris Johnson was suspended by the team after his girlfriend was arrested for felony embezzlement. According to the report, Johnson's girlfriend, Chamon Jones, was arrested Friday morning. It appears that Jones, an employee at Macy's in Tulsa, was giving Damaris far more than the friends and family discount.
According to a police report, Johnson used Jones’ debit card on Saturday to pay for $1,596.09 worth of merchandise, but was charged only $12.91 by Jones. The report also states that on Thursday, Johnson paid 34 cents for $1,238.75 worth of merchandise.
Yikes. The article doesn't specify the duration of the suspension, but from the sound of the police report I'd guess Johnson should be far more worried about potential criminal liability than whether or not he'll be on the field for Saturday's opener against the #1 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman.
Johnson is the NCAA's career all-purpose yardage leader. Miner fans will recall he torched UTEP with 6 catches for 253 all-purpose yards and a rushing touchdown in last years 31-28 defeat of the Miners.

Saw this Friday and couldnt believe it...
did he or his girl think they could seriously get away with this crap? Really Demaris couldn’t u just get a nice shirt or some jeans, $1300 is crazy, I wish we had them early instead of Houston.
Yesterday we had a test run of C-USA Weekly,
And we discussed this. I think if he is arrested and charged as his gf is, he’s probably lost for the season. No way he’ll be clear of all those legal troubles for a long time to come.
Everyone make sure to check out my new sports blog called The Sports Loop at www.inthesportsloop.com. Hopefully it give you all something to talk about until Miner athletics get back into full swing. Let me know what you think.
