Rivals.com: UTEP's Free Throw Struggles & More in Team Report
I enjoyed this Rivals article that explains just how porous UTEP's free throw shooting has been. Rivals rightly argues that UTEP's struggles at the line probably cost the Miners the game in Birmingham. Good Read here. Excerpt: "A league-opening win over Tulsa on Jan. 5 gave the impression the team was starting to figure it out, as the Miners hit 27 of 35 (77.1 percent) from the free-throw line. Then came the disappointing Jan. 8 loss at UAB in which the Miners not only shot a pedestrian 65.4 percent from the line for the game (17-for-26), but they were even worse in the clutch. In the game’s three overtime periods, UTEP hit just seven of 13 free throws (53.8 percent). Considering UAB hit 10 of 13 free throws in the same three periods, one could easily argue the difference in the game came down to UTEP’s struggles at the line."
