Predicting the Season: Arkansas-Pine Bluff vs. the UTEP Miners

Former Washington Redskins linebacker Monte Coleman is now the head coach at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and will lead the Golden Lions to El Paso on opening day. (Getty Images)

With the season now less than a month away, I thought it would be fun to run through the season and let you all vote on who you think will win each game- a nice way to countdown the final four weeks of the offseason and also to provide us all with a chance to get some more background information on each of UTEP's 2010 opponents.

Game 1:  Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions

On September 4, 2010, the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions will come down to El Paso to open up the 2010 season.  In 2009, UAPB went 5-7 and finished 4th, out of 5 teams, in the SWAC West.  UAPB's head coach is Monte Coleman.  Coleman may be best known for playing sixteen, yes I said sixteen, NFL seasons with the Washington Redskins.  He played in 217 games with the Skins, second only to the legendary Darrell Green.  2010 will be Coleman's third as head coach at UAPB.

On the field, the Lions are led by sophomore quarterback Josh Boudreaux.  Boudreaux came in the last six games of the 2009 season and finished up completing 58.2 percent of his passes with 9 touchdowns against only 4 interceptions.

Coleman, a first time head coach, fielded losing teams in his first two seasons at UAPB.  Last season ended with a disappointing finish as the Lions ended the season losing three of four.  The teams struggles forced Coleman to replace his offensive coordinator, defensive line coach, and linebackers coach this off-season.

So, who you got?
