Around SBN: This Should Encourage Juan Mata

Both the C-USA and the MWC just released statements confirming that the league's Commissioners met Thursday night in Colorado Spring, Co.

Here is the full text of the official statement just released by Conference USA:

"The conferences have much in common and have worked cooperatively for many years and we are exploring creative ways to work together going forward. The discussion included scheduling, television, and post-season football. It is premature for anyone to suggest anything else at this point. We have the strong support of our members as we work on a variety of strategic initiatives. We had a good discussion yesterday and likely will have more in the future."

UPDATE: The Mountain West also just released a statement via their official blog. Here is is:

"Followed up on various media reports regarding a potential Mountain West Conference-Conference USA merger, and confirmed that representatives of both leagues did indeed meet yesterday in Colorado Springs. Included were Commissioner Craig Thompson, Commissioner Britton Banowsky (who have a long-standing personal and professional relationship), and a couple MWC Athletics Directors. The informal gathering, which was previously scheduled, covered a wide range of topics, including concepts regarding television, scheduling and the BCS. Yet another example of the Mountain West's ongoing strategic thinking on a number of fronts, as the league continues to position itself in the national landscape."

when both sides are confirming it officially….something is happening. BUT both basically are saying we are talking and comparing notes.

No doubt- these statements confirm something is brewing...

Now what is that? Who knows? Could it be as simple as a scheduling agreement? Or as huge as a merger? Maybe just a title game agreement?

We’ll see, but somethings coming….

I always said be proactive and be the first conference to do something bold.

This would do it. GLORY FAVORS THE BOLD. it’s on my sig too.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 2 weeks till the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

Keep an eye on the Big East for football expansion next

Does that mean, there goes Memphis and East Carolina? That would bring the C-USA side down to 10 teams.
