SBNation: On a Roll

One of the main reasons I started Miner Rush was to provide a new resource for Miner fans living away from El Paso.  Anybody out there who lives outside the 915 knows what I'm talking about; UTEP coverage is terrible.  Information was sparse and rarely updated and I wanted to help change that.  The Rush is coming along very well in these early months (we launched February 16, 2010), and with SBN's incredible leadership, I know that the future is even brighter.  SBNation already has over 250 sports blogs for pro and college teams but isn't limited there.  Like MMA?  Then you have to check out Bloody Elbow.  SBNation covers it all.

If you want to know more about the guys that started it all, check out this feature from the New York Times on Jim Bankoff and Tyler Bleszinksi.

SBNation is constantly working to improve the fan experience and I'm excited to help announce that SBN's new regional sites started rolling out today.  You can also expect some new features to begin appearing on the blog in the coming days.

Finally! A way to keep up with Miner sports...

Ever since I heard of this site i check it pretty much everyday. I grew up in El paso and all through college and law school there was little outside of the el paso times for someone wanting to keep up with UTEP athletics.
I’m totally psyched for this year, especially BB. The other day i was watching the 1987 UTEP v Arizona NCAA tournament game (which i DVR’d and continue to watch whenever I’m bored). That game featured players like Jeep Jackson, Soup Campbell, Antonio Davis and Tim Hardaway—which made me hopeful that with Coach Floyd UTEP can finally get some real talent in orange n blue ( while ACTUALLY coaching them team basketball—u reading this Barbee?) and bring back the glory days.
Who knows…the Austin American Statesman may actually start printing UTEP’s box scores now. But I wouldn’t hold my breath…now I don’t have to thanks to Miner Rush!
Thanks and good luck on the bar exam!

A personal thanks....

AMac, thanks for all you do to keep this site humming. I’m positive that between Bar Exam prep and your personal life (I’m sure you’re trying to have one) that maintaining your dedication to Miner Nation via this medium is no easy task. As you’re well aware I’m a frequent flyer on this site as it is the best outside source for all things Miner a great escape and way to stay in tune with my love of everything UTEP. Keep up the great work!

ATX_BLUES: As you’ve stated I wouldn’t hold my breath about the Statesman doing anything right. That publication is a dying rag. As someone who also resides in the ATX it’s pretty disappointing but not shocking. Perhaps with realignment modifications we will see some improvement. Again, not holding by breath.

Thanks, ATX

UTEP fans deserve better than what’s out there. We shouldn’t have to wait till signing day to know who UTEP is going after. I’m just happy that after the bar is over, I can put more time into football coverage. That, I can’t wait to cover.
